Today’s human settlements are very complex. People have created a place where in the political, economic, military, social, and environmental concerns of different countries are associated with one another affecting each other’s political and economic stability.
In ancient times this wasn’t the situation. People then were grouped in families that led nomadic lives in search of food and to evade natural enemies. They hunted animals and gathered fruits for food going from one place to another. They did not settle in one place like people do today living in cities, towns, and villages. These settlements are composed of several families. And although they are similar in terms of providing a permanent place for people to live, they are distinct entities. It is a firm belief on the part of people that there is a big difference between village and city life. It is absolutely true that the life in a village and that in a city varies so much that the difference is glaring at times. There are several different characteristics  between villages and cities in Indonesia.  The difference can be seen from the characteristics of the facilities, community, the majority of the work performed, and population.
It is a firm belief on the part of people that there is a big difference between village life and city life. It is absolutely true that the life in a village and that in a city varies so much that the difference is glaring at times.
We would not find many facilities and opportunities in a village. Parents would be happy to send their children to cities for higher studies rather than to villages. Cities are endowed with quality higher education institutions whereas villages are not endowed with high quality colleges and universities.  In addition to schools and colleges, city life is preferred for improved medical facilities. If someone falls ill in the family, you tend to take him or her to a popular hospital in a city since villages are not equipped with the best of medical attention. The number of hospitals in a city and the facilities are far more when compared to that in a village.  A city has banks, cinema theaters, parks, sports stadiums, clubs, hostels and shopping malls.
Next, the characteristics of people in a city is different from that of the people in a village.  People in a city are generally unfriendly and they maintain distant from others. The people in villages on the other hand are warm-hearted and friendly. Villagers receive you well where as city-dwellers tend to be within doors. People in villages are very helpful in nature whereas people living in cities tend to be more selfish in their attitude. Villagers has a traditional nature of the society with a ancestral trait, helping each other and still have the nature of tolerance. While the city and its community have individual properties height and modern.
In addition, there is a great disparity in the majority of the work performed between people in villages and city communities.  For example, the majority of the work of the community in the village depending on the condition of nature such as agriculture, raising water and cultivation. While the majority of the citizens of the city, working in the private sector as an office employer, workers factory and trade.
The last obvious difference population between villages and cities in Indonesia.   City and its community are very heterogeneous and very dense populations of the community who came from various backgrounds either ethnic or religious. With some metropolitan areas now measured by the tens of millions, a city can have a very large number of people. On the other hand, a village has a population that is often measured in the thousands or even less than that.  The village has a population of extremely low with a homogenous society with a plurality is very low. In contrast to the
Although, there are differences between rural and urban characteristics. Both of areas must still establish cooperation and coordination  to avoid gaps between villages and cities and minimalize urban refraction.
